"They've reached the end of the road" - Spurs set for summer overhaul?

Tottenham Hotspur face a summer of transfers regardless of their Champions League final place. That is according to The Sun's deputy head of sport, Martin Lipton, who joined OTB AM this morning.

Mauricio Pochettino's side booked a place in the final against Liverpool thanks to a Lucas Moura hat-trick overturning a three-goal deficit after half-time.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has failed to back his Argentine manager's side and the club haven't signed a single player in 18 months.

The North London club's international players capped more minutes than any other club side at last summer's World Cup.

Spurs have lost 13 games in the Premier League this season and Pochettino has admitted frustrations about the depth and strength of his squad, along with the club's inability to mount a prolonged assault for the Premier League title.

Lipton told OTB AM that the situation may have been very different had Spurs not reached the Champions League final.

"It hasn't been a vintage season by any stretch, there are frustrations at Tottenham at the way their season fell apart from the position where they were - potentially title challengers but if they are to go and make the 'impossible dream' a reality in three weeks' time, all of that is forgotten,' Lipton told OTB AM.

Lipton says the nucleus of the squad will be separated in the summer months due to so few changes over the past four years. He believes they will do a considerable amount of business in and out of the club after the Champions League final clash against Liverpool - win, lose or draw.

According to Lipton, the current squad have reached the 'end of the road'.

"This is the end of this team, you can see whatever happens this team is going to be broken up. It'll be six out and six in, some through choice and some through necessity - you have got to do it. Whatever happened to this group of players collectively, and it's basically been the same team for four seasons, and remember they haven't made too many changes.

They've reached the end of the road, and they know it. Everyone knows it."
