Storm Jorge forces Sligo's game with Waterford to be postponed

The SSE Airtricity Premier Division meeting of Sligo Rovers and Waterford scheduled for Saturday evening has been postponed.

Due to an extreme weather warning as a result of Storm Jorge across the weekend, league officials have taken the decision to reschedule the match.

An FAI statement says, "With only necessary travel advised, the decision has been taken on the health and safety grounds of both players and supporters.

"A new date for the fixture will be announced in due course."

Sligo's meeting with Waterford becomes the third Premier Division fixture this season to be postponed as a result of the weather.

Last week saw St. Patrick's Athletic's game with Derry City, and Finn Harps' clash with Shelbourne both called off.

Of the games that do go ahead, Tallaght Stadium is heading for a sell-out for the meeting of Cup-winners Shamrock Rovers and reigning league champions Dundalk.

Rovers are without last week's 5-goal hero Graham Burke due to a calf injury, but recent signing from Salford Rory Gaffney could feature.

Both sides have won each of their first three games of the new season, and it represents the best start for Rovers boss Stephen Bradley, "We felt we needed to start quickly and get points on the board.

"We worked really hard in pre-season to give us that platform to do that. We’ve nine goals and conceded none so we need to try and keep that clean sheet run going. That’s everything we work for."

Dundalk could call upon Georgie Kelly for the first time this season after he recovered from injury, but Patrick McEleney is touch-and-go due to an Achilles problem.

Elsewhere, having suffered a late late opening round defeat to Shamrock Rovers, Bohemians go in search of a third win in-a-row when they make the trip to Derry City.

Tolka Park hosts the Dublin derby meeting of Shelbourne and St. Patrick's Athletic.

While Finn Harps are away to pointless Cork City.

Athlone Town finally open their First Division account when they host Cabinteely tonight.

Bray Wanderers play Wexford, Drogheda United face Longford Town, and UCD take on Cobh Ramblers.
