Sane agrees terms with Bayern but no fee agreed with City

Bayern Munich have made an offer of €40 million for Manchester City winger Leroy Sane, according to reports in Germany.

Sport Bild says the Germany international has already agreed personal terms so the next step is for the two clubs to come to an agreement on the fee.

€40 million is well shy of what Bayern were willing to pay for Sane last summer and it's also €10 million less than what City paid Schalke for the 24-year-old in 2016.

The winger has been a long-term target for the German champions and a deal may have been done last summer but Sane suffered a knee injury in the Community Shield against Liverpool in August.

As a result, Sane hasn't featured for City in the Premier League this season, although he was back training before the season was put on hold due to the coronavirus.

Bayern could benefit from a potential fall in the transfer market due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Sane is also heading into the final year of his contract with Pep Guardiola's side.

It's hard to imagine City would be willing to sell the German for €40 million and former Bayern boss Jupp Heynckes warned the club earlier this week that Sane was not worth a big fee.

"For me, he has not yet made a breakthrough to becoming an absolute top player.

"I think this is a player at a crossroads. Will he keep working hard on himself or will he remain just as an exceptional talent?

"He has to be ready to make the next big step because there is no use in flashing the talent from time to time.

"I also honestly tell you that I don't consider the price justifiable."
