Reports: Real Madrid give up their chase for Kylian Mbappe

Real Madrid have reportedly admitted defeat in their attempts to sign Kylian Mbappe this summer.

The Spanish giants had an initial €160million bid rejected last week by Paris Saint-Germain, where Mbappe has entered the final year of his contract.

A second bid of €180million was then submitted, with PSG still refusing to budge.

Mbappe had rejected two "serious" offers of a contract extension at the Parc des Princes, according to sporting director Leonardo.

The Brazilian had accused Real of posturing, saying, "It looks like a strategy [from Real] for us to say 'no', "to show that they have tried everything and to wait a year to have it free.

"Real Madrid have been behaving like this for two years , it's incorrect, illegal even because they contacted the player.

"It is unacceptable to us, because it is not correct.

"This is the very proof of the strategy: an offer arrives one year from the end of its contract and 7 days from the end of the transfer window.

"They want a refusal to show Kylian that they've tried everything and start negotiating for next year."

A third bid was set to be submitted on Monday evening, but both RMC Sport and TF1 claim that Real have given up the ghost.

Mbappe has linked up with the French squad ahead of this week's World Cup qualifiers with Bosnia-Herzegovina, Ukraine and Finland.

The 22-year old scored both goals as PSG won 2-0 away to Reims on Sunday night.
