Prize money for new UEFA Conference League finally revealed

The prize money for European football's newest competition - the UEFA Europa Conference League - has been revealed.

Everything about the third tier competition was already in the open, bar how much qualifying clubs stood to make from it.

Former UEFA chief executive and current president of European Leagues Lars-Christer Olsson had warned that the Conference League "risks becoming a financial loss-making deal for the clubs participating", due to its lesser status.

According to L'Équipe however, each of the 32 qualifying teams will be guaranteed €3million. By contrast, qualification for the group stage of the Europa League earns a club €3.63million, and the Champions League in excess of €15million - up €390,000 on 2020/21.

However, there are three qualifying rounds to reach the group stage of the Conference League.

Dundalk, Bohemians and Sligo Rovers can expect to enter in the first qualifying round.

Tottenham, Roma and Union Berlin are among those entering at the playoff round.

Each group stage victory will be worth €500,000, with a draw seeing a club earn €166,000. Finishing top of the group sees a club pocket €650,000, and second place €325,000.

In the Champions League next season, a win is worth €2.8million and a draw €930,000.

Reaching the last-16 offers a further €9.6million, he quarter-finals €10.6 million, the semi-finals €12.5 million and the final will result in teams pocketing €15.5 million.

Winning the Champions League next season is worth €20million - an increase of €1million on this season.

A group stage place in the Europa League earns clubs €3.63 million. Wins are worth €630,000, and draws €210,000.

Winning a Europa League group pockets a club an additional €1.1million.
