The Premier League has rolled over its broadcast rights deals in the UK market for a further 3 seasons until 2024 / 25.
Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime Video and the BBC have all agreed to extend their existing arrangements.
The financial terms will remain the same, so the Premier League will net in the region of £4.5 billion pounds from the sale, which has not required a tender process following negotiations between the Premier League and the UK Government.
The deal will allow the top-flight to provide £100 million of extra funding to men's and women's grassroots clubs in the UK.
The development means that the clubs which were originally part of the proposed European Super League breakaway; Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, have all signed on for this deal.
SKY have been awarded 128 games per season, BT 52 matches, Amazon 20 games and the BBC will continue to provide highlights coverage on Match of the Day.
Teams that play a Champions League fixture on a Wednesday will not be scheduled to play at 12.30pm on a Saturday. Instead, that 12.30 slot involving clubs with matches in Europe will now be replaced by a 7.45pm kick-off on a Saturday evening.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said:
“We are hugely appreciative of the Government agreeing in principle to allow this arrangement and for their continued support for the Premier League and the English game. COVID-19 has had a significant impact on football, and renewals with our UK broadcast partners will reduce uncertainty, generate stability and promote confidence within the football pyramid.
“We know that once concluded, this will have a positive impact on the wider industry, jobs and tax revenues and will enable us to maintain and increase our existing solidarity and community financial commitments to the football pyramid for the next four years, even though we are yet to understand the full impact of the pandemic.
“It comes at an important time and will enable us to plan ahead with increased certainty against a more stable economic backdrop.
“Sky Sports, BT Sport, Amazon Prime Video and BBC Sport are excellent partners and provide fantastic coverage and programming to bring our competition to fans in the UK.”
