SOCCER - PL

A late Jamie Vardy equaliser away to Arsenal salvaged what could prove a vital point for Leicester City in the race for Champions League football.

Brendan Rodgers' side drew 1-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal's cause wasn't helped by the sending-off of Eddie Nketiah four-minutes after his second half introduction.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had given the Gunners the lead.

Leicester City dropped one place to fourth after Chelsea won 3-2 at Crystal Palace.

Substitute Tammy Abraham scored what proved to be the deciding goal at Selhurst Park.

Norwich City's relegation could be confirmed as soon as Saturday following their 2-1 defeat at Watford.

Danny Welbeck scored the winner in that game with a bicycle kick, with Watford coming from behind to earn the three points and move them four clear of the relegation places.

West Ham could ease their own relegation worries tonight with a win at home to Burnley. Three points would move David Moyes’ side seven points clear of the drop zone.

Wolves can keep the pressure up on fifth placed Manchester United with victory at Sheffield United.

Manchester City will look to put their Southampton defeat behind them when they entertain Newcastle. Those three games get underway at 6pm.

Then at 8.15 champions Liverpool make the trip to Brighton.

Adam Lallana is unlikely to play another game for Liverpool with manager Jurgen Klopp reluctant to put the soon-to-be out-of-contract midfielder at risk of injury.

The 32-year-old signed a short-term deal to keep him at Anfield until the end of this extended campaign but will depart after that.

CHAMPIONSHIP

Brentford came from behind to beat Charlton 2-1 last night to move within two points of the Championship's automatic promotion places.

The race for a play-off spots is wide open after Blackburn won 3-2 against sixth placed Cardiff - and Fulham, in fourth, got past Nottingham Forest 1-nil.

The bottom two played out a 1-all draw, as Luton and Barnsley couldn't be separated.

Reading's game with Huddersfield ended goalless.

Today's action kicks-off at 3pm, as relegation strugglers Middlesbrough go to Millwall.

With table toppers Leeds not playing until tomorrow, West Brom can move to the summit by avoiding defeat against Derby this evening.
