No Giggs for Wales in the March World Cup qualifiers

Wales manager Ryan Giggs won't be in charge during the next international break, the Football Association of Wales has confirmed.

Robert Page will continue to fill in for Giggs as Wales prepare to kick off their 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign at the end of March.

Giggs has agreed to remain on 'special leave' following his arrest in November after an allegation of assault, which he denies.

The 47-year-old had his bail extended until May 1st last month.

A short statement from the FAW on Wednesday read: "The Football Association of Wales (FAW) and Ryan Giggs have mutually agreed that he will not be involved in the upcoming international camp.

"Robert Page will take charge for the next three matches against Belgium, Mexico and the Czech Republic and will be supported by Albert Stuivenberg as was the case during the last international window in November.

"The Welsh squad for these upcoming matches will be announced on Monday 15th March."

Wales start their World Cup qualifying away to Belgium on March 24th and the Czech Republic visit Cardiff on March 30th.

There is a friendly against Mexico in between those qualifiers on March 27th in Cardiff.
