Newcastle confirm Dubravka out until end of month with knee injury

Slovakia are set to be without goalkeeper Martin Dubravka for the Euro 2020 playoff against the Republic of Ireland on March 26th.

Newcastle have confirmed Dubravka has been ruled out until at least April with a knee injury he sustained in the Premier League win over Southampton on Saturday.

The 31-year-old was injured in the 60th minute at St Mary's but played on and the injury was assessed on Monday.

Dubravka has kept nine clean sheets in the league and has not missed a top-flight game since making his Newcastle debut against Manchester United in February 2018.

Dubravka has played 24 times for Slovakia at senior level and hasn’t missed a competitive game for them since June 2017.

It was confirmed on Tuesday that the playoff between Slovakia and the Republic of Ireland in Bratislava will be played behind closed doors due to the coronavirus.

Slovakia could also be without a host of players based in Italy, where all Serie A games have been postponed until April 3rd.

Slovak authorities have put in place 14 days of quarantine for anyone who has been in Italy recently.

Milan Skriniar of Inter Milan and Lazio's Denis Vavro are among the players that could all be ruled out for the play-off.
