Mo Salah returns to Liverpool training for Champions League tomorrow

Egyptian striker Mo Salah has returned to Liverpool training at Melwood ahead of tomorrow evening's UEFA Champions League Group E clash away to Genk.

Salah was one of nineteen travelling players who departed Liverpool's John Lennon Airport this afternoon for Belgium.

The 27-year-old missed Sunday afternoon's 1-1 draw at Manchester United, which left Jurgen Klopp's side six points clear of Manchester City at the summit of the Premier League table.

Salah had been out with an ankle injury picked up in a challenge by Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury before the recent international break.

Klopp had not been at all happy with the tackle that left Salah injured when speaking after the Leicester City win.

"How did he (Choudhury) only get a yellow card? Mo limped off the pitch. That's hard. It was done to slow Mo down and that is not okay.

"A player on full sprint to bring him down with no-one around, it was dangerous as hell. I don't want to cause the boy any problems but he has to calm down, super player.

"I don't have to be a football manager to know that could cause injury, I just need two eyes. He cannot just go for the man. Mo is in the dressing room lying down and I don't know. How should I know what it (his injury) is now? This is just really hard."

"You ask me how Mo is? How can be he okay when he limps off? This cannot be right."

It's not all positive news for Liverpool on the injury front, however, with Tren Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip missing out.

Alexander-Arnold remains on Merseyside due to a virus, as does Matip, who has a sore knee.

Republic of Ireland underage goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has travelled with the squad, as does Sunday's goalscorer Adam Lallana, who came off the bench in the stalemate at Old Trafford.

Tomorrow evening's game will be an 8 pm kick-off at KRC Genk Arena. It is the first of back-to-back European ties against the Belgian champions.

Liverpool have four points from their opening two games in the group, after losing at Napoli 2-0 and eventually overcoming Red Bull Salzburg 4-3 at Anfield, having given up a lead.

Jurgen Klopp and his side will then welcome an out of form Tottenham to Anfield on Sunday afternoon for a 4.30 pm start.

Liverpool squad: Alisson, Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Lovren, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Adrian, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Brewster, Robertson, Origi, Kelleher.
