'I was out for a week!' | Micah Richards recalls City party after Aguero goal

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards says he doesn't blame Liverpool for their tired performance during the week against his former club, with heavy celebraions part of the game.

Jurgen Klopp's side fell to a 4-0 defeat at the Etihad on Thursday night, their first game since clinching the English domestic honours for the first time in 30 years.

Richards, capped 13 times at senior international level by England, was part of the City squad that won the Premier League title in dramatic circumstances on the final day of the 2011-12 season.

The Sergio Aguero strike against Queens Park Rangers meant City pipped their Manchester rivals United to the title, and Richards told the BBC's Football Focus it led to some pretty hefty partying.

"There were two times. The Aguero moment was the last game of the season so I think I was out for about a week after that, it was brilliant!

"The second time, I didn't play enough games for a medal so I was sulking, but looking back now I should have definitely cherished it more because [they were] amazing times with the squad and with the team.

"For some of those players at Liverpool, they might never win the Premier League again, so they've got to enjoy it as much as they can."

Former England international Alex Scott, capped 140 times, was also on the panel, and she said she regrets not taking more time to enjoy the triumphs throughout her playing career.

"I don't know, they've waited so long, and those moments are just so special. When I look back on my career, I don't think I was in those moments enough, and it's one of my biggest regrets.

"I was always like 'Well, what next? I need to go again'. I just wish I had celebrated more in those moments. You never know if you're going to get that moment again.

"[With Klopp] after that game on Thursday he's like 'Well, we've won it, but we need to go again.' That's when you're regarded as one of the greatest teams, if you can retain the trophy. It is that 'What next?' all the time."
