Mark Lawrenson says Klopp's Liverpool are everyone's second favourite team

Former European Cup winner Mark Lawrenson believes his beloved Liverpool Football Club are everyone's second favourite team.

Lawrenson joined Sunday's OTB to review last night's Champion's League Final between Tottenham and Liverpool. Jurgen Klopp's side defeated the Londoners 2-0 in the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid.

He thinks the German manager's side may be many people's second team to watch because of the style of play he has implemented at the Merseyside club.

"I would still say, and a lot of people may argue with me but I think they are everyone's second favourite  team,' stated the former player.

The former Ireland international cited the popularity of Jurgen Klopp as a stand out factor for his beliefs. Last night's success marked the 51-year-old's first trophy since he arrived in Merseyside.

"You're a Premier League supporter, and apart from the Manchester City manager, Guardiola - who would you want as your manager if you could have anybody?,' asked Lawrenson.

He says many  pundits in the UK were envious of the fact the former Borrusia Dortmund manager agreed to take the reigns at Liverpool in 2015.

"It's because of him; it's all about him. When he was appointed manager, a lot of people who know a lot of things about football in this country went: 'oh my god, I wish we had him."
