Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has said his club teammates took "the piss out of us" following the disagreement with teammate Mo Salah.
It goes back to a 3-0 win for the Merseysiders against Burnley in the Premier League, where the Senegalese international was substituted.
Mane was visibly upset when Salah didn't pass him the ball in the closing stages of the game at Turf Moor.
“Everyone was taking the piss out of us," Mane told Canal+ Sport about the incident.
“Wijnaldum, who likes to tease people, waited until everyone was there, came up to me and asked out loud, ‘Mo Salah, why did Mane want to hit you?’ and the whole team started laughing.”
“It was a misunderstanding. If there’s a possibility to kill off the game as quickly as possible all the while trying to score many goals, I think that’s important, and so I was a bit frustrated.
“We just talked, and everything was like before. We talked between ourselves, and then the manager called me into his office and we spoke.
“He told me, ‘But Sadio, why are you angry?’ I told him, ‘You needed to give me the ball, Mo ‘I didn’t see you. You know I’ve got nothing against you’.
“I knew that, but his reaction was a bit strange to me.
"We’re always side-by-side. He’s 10 and I’m 11. We text each other sometimes. We even talk on the phone, but we don’t have a problem.”
Liverpool sit top of the Premier League, with eight wins from eight. Jurgen Klopp's side head into this weekend looking for their ninth win on the trot in the competition. They play Manchester United on Sunday - however a depleted Red Devils team decimated by injuries.
The Merseysiders are hoping to end a three-decade wait to win the Premier League.
