Leicester confirm the signing of Patson Daka on a five-year-deal

Leicester City have announced the signing of Patson Daka from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee in the region of €27 million.

The 22-year-old Zambian international has agreed a five year deal with the Foxes and will join the club on July 1st, subject to Premier League and international clearance.

Daka scored 68 times in 125 appearances for RB Salzburg in all competitions and helped the Austrian side to four successive league titles and a total of seven trophies in four seasons.

Leicester's new recruit bagged 27 goals in 28 games to finish top scorer in the Austrian Bundesliga last season and was also crowned Player of the Season.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Daka said: "I’m so, so excited to join this great, historic club. It has been my dream and I’m so happy and looking forward to what’s coming next.

"I have followed Leicester from the time they won the league. I feel it is the perfect place for me, because it’s a team that fights for titles.

"I know it’s not going to be easy, but I feel ready to face this new challenge.

"I will give my best for the club each and every day, and I look forward to seeing the Leicester City fans inside the stadium soon."

Daka has featured for Zambia 22 times at senior level, scoring seven goals and being named the Confederation of African Football’s Young Player of the Year in 2017.

He'll link up with his new teammates in July to begin preparations for the new Premier League season, which starts on August 14th for Leicester at home to Wolves.

The signing of Daka gives Brendan Rodgers another option in attack alongside Jamie Vardy, Kelechi Iheanacho and Ayoze Perez.

Leicester won the FA Cup for the first time last season and qualified for the Europa League once again, albeit after missing out on a place in the Champions League on the final day of the season for the second year in a row.
