Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Jordan Henderson will miss the rest of this season with a knee injury.
The Reds skipper limped out of Wednesday's 3-1 victory at Brighton with a knee injury.
Speaking ahead of Saturday's visit of Burnley to Anfield, Klopp confirmed Henderson will miss Liverpool's final four games of the campaign.
"Hendo is actually really the best possible of all the bad news. It is a knee injury, but no surgery needed," Klopp said.
"He will not play anymore in the latter stage of this season but I am pretty positive he will start with us the new season.
"We were all concerned in the moment we saw him in going down and when he left the pitch and stuff like this.
"Yesterday when we got the news, it was a big relief for all of us. It is not cool, obviously, but it is the best we could get. Hendo will be back; he is a quick healer and he will be back soon."
Addressing the injury on Instagram, Henderson said, "My rehabilitation will start immediately and I’ll be working hard to be back to full fitness in just a matter of weeks in order to be fully ready for the start of the new season."
Klopp says the Henderson injury tempered their victory at the AmEx.
"The boys came in, they didn’t know exactly [about the injury]," the German boss said.
"It was 3-1, great, I told them wining an away game in the Premier League is exceptional for all teams in the world, so it’s exceptional for us and we should be really happy about it. The boys were happy about it, but then you realise Hendo is around the corner on a bed. Everyone felt bad for him, absolutely.
“He deserves to lift the trophy – and he will lift the trophy. As I said, no surgery needed, that's the good news. For all the rest, we can make our own decisions – or I think a few decisions at least – how it will be around the trophy lift.
"But Hendo will lift the trophy."
Klopp says that Dejan Lovren could be in contention for the Burnley game having missed Liverpool's last four outings, "Dejan is in full training now again and is available."
