"Positive times at Dalymount" - Bohemians boss Keith Long

Bohemians manager Keith Long says there's a sense of "positive times" at the club.

The club earned the Dublin Derby bragging rights last night with a 1-0 win over nine-man Shamrock Rovers.

Sweeter still for Bohs was the fact they rise to second and also dent leaders Rovers' excellent start to 2019.

Long joined us on Off The Ball and spoke of the positives gained from last night.

"Certainly from a supporters perspective, to get the bragging rights in another Dublin Derby was fantastic," he said.

Fantastic

"We won previously in Tallaght last season and we've won earlier in the season at home in Dalymount.

"And to go to Tallaght in the run of form which Rovers were in, to come away with the win was fantastic.

"So it's fantastic for the supporters, for the players and everyone around at the club. It's positive times at Dalymount."

"We'd love to have something like what Rovers have in Tallaght, that we can start building for the future"

Long also added that the status of both clubs this season has changed the emphasis.

"The context of the derby changed somewhat last night with us being in third position and Rovers at the top of the table," he said.

"It's been a long time since both clubs have been in that position. It was our intention to go there and try and bridge the gap to try and win the game. Like I said, we had a positive mindset and our attitude towards playing in Tallaght is good.

"We had a firm belief in our game-plan and the structure of the team. It's thrown thing open now a little bit. Obviously, Rovers have to go to Dundalk on Friday. From our perspective, we've got to try and follow up last night with a win against Waterford ourselves.

Immeasurable

"So it's a quick turn-around and you've got 24 hours less preparation than Waterford to prepare for a game. But we've got to capitalise on last night's performance and our position in the table."

Long also feels Bohs now have a "nice blend of youth and experience". He also discussed the "immeasurable input" of Trevor Croly to the Bohs coaching setup.

"Trevor has been probably my best signing if you want to look at it that way in the five years I'm in the job."

He also touched on the wider context of a packed night in Tallaght.

"Our league needs more nights like last night. It needs the infrastructure and the facilities need to improve across the board. It's not going to happen overnight. But hopefully we can get our own project at Dalymount Park moving. We'd love to have something like what Rovers have in Tallaght, that we can start building for the future."
