Callum Robinson has tested positive for COVID-19.
His club West Brom confirmed the news on Wednesday night ahead of their Carabao Cup 2nd round tie with Arsenal at The Hawthorns.
It's the second time the former Preston striker has tested positive for the virus.
Neither Robinson nor goalkeeper David Button were involved, as both have contracted the virus.
The news will come as a huge blow to Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny, less than 24-hours before he names his squad for the World Cup qualifiers with Portugal, Serbia and Azerbaijan.
Robinson will likely have to isolate for 10 days, ruling him out of the Portugal game in Faro, and the September 4 visit of Azerbaijan to the Aviva Stadium.
The 26-year old had started the season in fine form under new manager Valerian Ismael, scoring three goals in four Championship appearances.

It won't be the first time Robinson will have fallen foul of the pandemic.
He missed UEFA Nations League games with Wales and Finland in October of 2020 as he was deemed a close contact of a positive case within the Ireland squad.
Robinson then missed a friendly with England at Wembley, and further Nations League games with Wales and Bulgaria having tested positive for coronavirus.
