Ireland boss Kenny holds "positive" meeting with FAI interim CEO

Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny met with interim FAI CEO Gary Owens on Friday to discuss a video shown to the squad.

Prior to last week's 3-0 friendly defeat to England at Wembley, the team were shown a short video containing snippets of Anglo-Irish history spliced with historic goals against England.

The Daily Mail reported that some within the camp viewed the video's contents as 'anti-English' and 'close to the line'.

Others described the video as merely pro-Irish, while sources familiar with its contents told OTB Sports that the piece was "very tame".

The video was less than three-minutes in duration, and also is believed to have contained references to the 1916 Rising.

Kenny's meeting with Owens on Friday was said to be "very positive", and it appears any talk of a potential sacking are very wide of the mark.

A further meeting with members of the FAI Board is due to take place later on Friday evening.

It's pressure Kenny could happily live without. Since his promotion to the role as senior manager in April, he's yet to see his side win a game.

In his eight games to date, Ireland have scored just once and missed out on qualification for Euro 202o.
