The EFL clubs released a brief statement to confirm the news bringing the Championship transfer window in line with clubs in League One and League Two.
"EFL Clubs have today reached an agreement in principle to amend the deadline of the Summer Transfer Window to the traditional closing date at the end of August.
"A process for formally adopting the change into EFL Regulations will now take place in due course, bringing Championship Clubs in line with the current position for League One and League Two."
The Championship previously had their transfer window aligned with the Premier League, closing before the opening game of the season kicked off. It has reverted back to the previous deadline.
The deadline for the 2020 Summer Transfer Window will close at 5pm on 1 September, as the 31 August 2020 is a Bank Holiday.
