Re-elected President of the FAI Donal Conway says he has been voted back onto the organisation's board to continue "work on reform".
He was the only candidate for the role and won the ballot by 134 votes out of a possible 140, with five people voting against and one person abstaining.
Speaking after being re-elected he spoke about the six who did not vote for him, Conway said, "anybody in that room is entitled to their view, as to whether Donal Conway brings any value or otherwise to the board of the FAI.
"And I respect them all, whether that was in favour or not, I would respect all of those views. The sense I had got for the week of the Festival of Football in Meath was that at grassroots level - players, volunteers, officials, members - were saying: 'it's our sport, we'll decide who our President is going to be. We're happy with you.'
"They knew the conditions that I was going forward under. It was for 12 months, to continue the work on reform with this new interim board."
Eight positions have been filled on the board out of 12. Four members are to be brought in with the help of an external organisation, which Conway says work will begin straight away to fill the vacant positions:
"We will communicate through the media looking for expressions of interest, again dealt with an external organisation. I would like to think we would bring together anything up to 15 or 20 CVs. We will look at the eight football members and see what skill do we need to compliment them. That will bring four forward.
"Obviously we will have to give serious consideration to gender, as the eight that have come forward are eight males, so that's a matter we have to consider seriously.
"When this interim board is over and another board is established, it's only got one year to fulfill that obligation of one-third membership being female."
