The role of club captains is one that football has crystalised over the decades.
There isn't a single representative style. In some cases, you get the Roy Keane model who demands the highest standards of team-mates.
Sometimes, it's the star player who gets possession of the armband. And on occasion, democracy takes hold.
That was the case at Arsenal where the players voted for Granit Xhaka to captain the club. Whether the Swiss midfielder will prove to be the right person for the job is another matter.
The role of club captains also came under scrutiny due to Derby County's Richard Keogh, which had relevance for Ireland.
So this week on Team 33, we decided to put the spotlight on club captains.
Jonathan Higgins, Colm Boohig and Stephen Bradley joined me to discuss some higher and lower profile cases.
For example, how did Jordan Henderson develop into the role at Liverpool after an inauspicious start? And how about the changing face of the club captain at Arsenal?
This is the old @OL_English third kit we were referencing on the podcast as donned by our model @bradley08

Third Kits
Also this week, we chatted third kits thanks to Stephen donning an old Lyon one in studio. And we also talked Gary Doherty as we play out an old 2016 interview with him on OTB Sports Radio this week.
John Giles was talking about the legendary John Charles recently on @offtheball
Which got us thinking about an ex-🇮🇪@FAIreland striker & defender: Gary Doherty!
