Petr Cech's name is the surprise inclusion in Chelsea's official squad list submitted to the Premier League.
The 38-year old seemingly finished his playing career at Arsenal in 2019, but that retirement has been short-lived.
After leaving the Emirates, Cech was named technical and performance advisor at the West London club. He's worked alongside Marina Granovskaia in landing several of their recent transfer acquisitions.
His name was especially prominent when Chelsea signed goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from another of Cech's former clubs, Rennes.
The former Czech Republic international spent eleven seasons as a player at Chelsea, helping them win four Premier League titles, just as many FA Cups, and the 2012 Champions League.
Chelsea already seemed well-stocked in the goalkeeping department, with Mendy, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero.
But Cech has been picked as an emergency fourth choice in a 21-man list.
Under-21 players like Mason Mount, Billy Gilmour and Reece James do not need including on the official list given to the Premier League
