Bohemians unveil Jack Charlton mural at Dalymount Park

Bohemians have become the first SSE Airtricity League Club to unveil a tribute to the late Jack Charlton.

The former Republic of Ireland manager died at the age of 85 at the weekend following an illness.

During Charlton's decade-long reign in charge of the Boys In Green, the international team were frequent visitors to Dalymount.

Denis Irwin and David Kelly both made their international debuts at the Phibsborough stadium, in friendlies with Morocco (1990) and Israel (1987).

Kelly famously scored a hat-trick on his international bow, while the Morocco outing was Ireland's first since their World Cup quarter-final exit to Italy in Rome.

A France team including Jean-Pierre Papin, Laurent Blanc and Patrick Battiston also visited for a scoreless draw in February of 1989.

Ireland also trained at the Home of Irish Football under Charlton on occasion.

The mural was painted by artist Niall O'Lochlainn, and features Charlton in his flat cap with his famous phrase 'Put 'Em Under Pressure'. The piece also contains the motif from Ireland's World Cup jersey of 1990.

Charlton is in good company at Dalymount, with the ground containing artwork of another alumnus in Bob Marley, and various anti-racism messages.
