The Austrian FA (OFB) has denied making an approach for Manchester United's interim head coach, Ralf Rangnick.
It had been reported on Wednesday morning that OFB sports director Peter Schöttel had boarded a flight to Manchester for talks with the 63-year old German.
Rangnick is set to move up to a consultancy role at Old Trafford at the end of this season following his stint as interim manager. Ajax head coach Erik Ten Hag is the favourite to be named the full-time successor to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Austria missed out on World Cup qualification as a result of their playoff defeat to Wales last month, leading to the departure of Franco Foda after four years as head coach. They begin their Nations League campaign in June with games against Croatia and Denmark.
Kurier reported that Schöttel was Manchester-bound for talks with Rangnick, a man who is no stranger to football in Austria.

In 2012 he was named director of football for both Red Bull clubs in Salzburg and Leipzig. He left the overarching role in 2015 to focus on the latter.
The Daily Mail said that Rangnick would only be required to work six days a month in his new United consultancy role, leaving plenty of time for outside projects if required.
However, the OFB flatly denied that they'd planned meetings with the ex-Hoffenheim and Schalke boss.
They tweeted, "Clarification: There was no meeting between ÖFB sports director Peter Schöttel and Ralf Rangnick, coach of Man Utd."
An appointment to the Austria job does, however, appear to be imminent with an executive committee meeting of the OFB called for Friday (April 8).
