Antonio Conte "in talks" to become Tottenham's new manager

Antonio Conte is said to be in "advanced negotiations" to become the new head coach at Tottenham.

The 51-year old left Inter last week, days after guiding them to a first Serie A title in eleven seasons. He'd been unhappy with the Nerazzurri's plans to cut costs this summer.

Spurs are without a manager since the sacking of Jose Mourinho in April, which left Ryan Mason as interim boss.

Conte already has a Premier League title to his name, having led Chelsea to their most recent success in 2016-17 in his first season in charge. The former Italy and Juventus head coach left Stamford Bridge in 2018 despite winning the FA Cup.

Conte could be reunited at Tottenham with former Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici.

Paratici is being courted by Daniel Levy, after announcing he was stepping down this summer as chief football officer with the Turin giants.

He oversaw Juve's operations as they hoovered up nine Serie A titles in a row, three of which were won under Conte.

Their first task in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will be convincing Harry Kane to stay.

The Spurs captain has made no secret over the fact he's considering his future this summer, as the 27-year old still awaits his first major trophy.

"I don't want to come to the end of my career and have any regrets. I want to be the best I can be," Kane told Gary Neville recently.

"I never said I'd stay at Spurs for the rest of my career and I've never said I'd leave Spurs. People might say, 'he's desperate for trophies, he needs trophies', but I still feel like I've still got almost another career to play.

"I've got seven, eight years, kind of what I've already had in the Premier League. So I'm not rushing anything, I'm not desperate to do anything."
