Derby County star Andre Wisdom is in hospital after he was the victim of an "unprovoked" stabbing in Liverpool last night.
It's understood the 27-year-old defender was attacked while visiting a relative in the Toxteth area of Merseyside.
The attack came mere hours after the Rams' 2-1 Championship win over Reading behind closed doors at home. Wisdom played 90 minutes in the game, in which Wayne Rooney scored the winner.
Wisdom's sister told The Sun that she was horrified by the attack.
“He’s been stabbed and is in hospital.
“He’s stable and my other brother is on his way there. It’s crazy. I can’t believe it.”
Merseyside police are said to be investigating the incident, while Wisdom's club say the attack was unprovoked and that he's now in a stable condition in hospital.
“Andre Wisdom has been the victim of an unprovoked assault and robbery. He sustained injuries which resulted in him being admitted to hospital."

The Pride Park club also tweeted their support for Wisdom last night, saying "Get well soon, Wis." Wisdom joined the club in 2017 from his boyhood Liverpool, and has had loan spells with Norwich City, West Bromwich Albion, and most recently Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.
He has also captained England at various underage levels, and was part of the squad which won the European under-17 Championship back in 2010.
With seven games to go in the Championship, Derby sit eighth in the table. That leaves them just three points adrift of Cardiff City, who occupy the final play-offs spot.
Meanwhile, on the pitch tonight Leeds United aim to take another step towards automatic promotion to the Premier League, as the Championship leaders host strugglers Luton Town at Elland Road.
Brentford will hope to move within two points of second placed West Brom with victory at Reading.
There's a west London derby as QPR meet Fulham, Cardiff City face Charlton Athletics, Millwall take on Swansea City and Stoke City travel to Wigan Athletic.
