Aine O'Gorman ends international retirement for Euro 2021 qualifiers

The Republic of Ireland squad named for the upcoming Euro 2021 qualifiers with Greece and Montenegro had one very surprising inclusion - that of Aine O'Gorman.

The Peamount United defender has ended her international retirement and will add to her 100 caps. She'd originally announced her retirement in September 2018.

Speaking in November of last year, O'Gorman admitted to having met with Republic of Ireland head coach Vera Pauw telling OTB AM, "I got on quite well with her."

West Ham midfielder Ruesha Littlejohn is also back in the fold having missed November's draw away to Greece.

Other returning names include Courtney Brosnan, Harriet Scott, Megan Connolly and Niamh Farrelly.

But Pauw must plan without Megan Campbell and Keeva Keenan who are both injured.

Ireland go into the March games 2nd in Group I and hopeful of securing their grip on the runners-up spot with Germany the runaway leaders.

Over 3,500 tickets have been sold for the Greece game in Tallaght Stadium on March 5, while Ireland will travel to Podgorica for their meeting with Montenegro on March 11.

Pauw will trim her squad before the visit of Greece.
