If you've been perusing Netflix lately, you've probably come across the new Diego Maradona documentary series.
Maradona In Mexico tells the story of the Argentina icon's brief managerial stint at Dorados in Sinaloa.
If you're not familiar with Sinaloa, the region often appears in the news media in relation to the War On Drugs.
Interestingly, Dorados featured on Team 33 back in 2016 when Duncan Tucker told us about the brief but influential time Pep Guardiola spent there at the end of his illustrious playing career.
Fascinating Backdrop
It's a fascinating backdrop for a character with Maradona's background, needless to say. But that's where I'll have to stop. I have yet to see the new series!
So that's where my Off The Ball colleague and Team 33 contributor Colm Boohig comes in. He dropped into studio for an ad-hoc recording where he told Shane Hannon and I why this Netflix series is a must-see.
Diego Maradona documentary is outrageous it’s the best doc I’ve ever seen BIBLICAL LG x

Needless to say, we have been moved to watch it in the very near future.
Also, Colm and I had interviewed Senna director Asif Kapadia back in June about his Diego Maradona documentary film and that is a good jumping off point into this other facet of the Napoli legend's life. You can watch that right here.
You can watch the Netflix series trailer below and our chat about it above. It's also available as a podcast just above or via iTunes.
Also this week, you can check out this week's main podcast. It features a debate about Robbie Brady's goal vs Shane Long's. And we also touch on the old Cup Winners Cup and how Brendan Rodgers would fare if he was to go to Arsenal. (He probably won't in any case).
Plus, I spoke to Steven Scragg about his book on the Cup Winners Cup.
