McGeady's take on Lennon's decision to leave Celtic

Former Celtic winger Aiden McGeady has admitted that he can understand why Neil Lennon has left the manager's role at the club.

Lennon resigned this morning after three and a half trophy-filled years at Celtic Park.

Our own Colm Parkinson caught up with McGeady earlier on today and the Ireland and Everton winger gave his take on Lennon's departure.

"[There's] shock at the timing of it but maybe from his point of view, he's done all he can at Celtic. I think I can see where he's coming from. He's won a lot of titles, he's won a lot of trophies but maybe it's time for a fresh start. But Celtic is a massive club with a massive pull, so it would be difficult for him to leave," said McGeady, who believes Lennon has what it takes to manage in the Premier League.

McGeady also imagined what it would be like if club legend Henrik Larsson were to take on the vacancy.

The former Spartak Moscow player also told Wooly about the step up from the SPL to the Premier League, highlighting the "bigger, stronger athletes" and intensity in England.
