McCabe and Connolly to meet in WFA Cup semi-final

Ireland captain Katie McCabe and her international team-mate Megan Connolly will be in opposition today when McCabe's Arsenal take on Connolly's Brighton in the Women's FA Cup semi-final.

The game gets underway at 4.45pm at Meadow Park.

McCabe has been in sensational form for a rampant Arsenal side this season, racking up viral clips on Twitter along the way.

The Gunners go into the game as firm favourites on the back of their recent dominance, but Brighton will be quietly confident of pulling off a famous Cup giant killing.

Super League leaders Arsenal have not lost a domestic match under head coach Jonas Eidevall since he took charge in the summer.

"I am new to English football but watched the FA Cup for many years overseas and I understand it has so much tradition and is filled with so much pride," the Swede said in the lead-up.

"When you get the chance to coach a club like Arsenal, you feel like you have a chance to coach them at Wembley and maybe we have a chance to win a trophy at Wembley.

"We are only one game away from that and that is an amazing feeling."

Brighton boss Hope Powell insisted during the week that her side have nothing to lose and the pressure is very much on McCabe's North Londoners.

"The pressure is definitely on Arsenal," Powell said.

"The expectation is for them to win, but they don't have the right to win. You still have to play the game.

"We know Arsenal are flying, we understand the depth of their squad and we recognise that it will be tough, but every game in the WSL is tough so it's nothing we haven't experienced before."

Chelsea face holders Manchester City in the other semi-final (12:45KO).

Both games are live on BBC1.
