Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino slapped with two-game touchline ban

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has been handed a two-match touchline ban by the English Football Association.

The 47-year-old has accepted a charge of 'improper conduct' after confronting referee Mike Dean in the aftermath of Spurs' 2-1 defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor on February 23rd.

Pochettino will be in the stands for Tottenham's Premier League trips to Southampton and Liverpool later this month.

However, the Spurs boss apologised for his outburst last week and was quick to point out his actions were not acceptable:

“Watching after on video from TV my behaviour, I think I need to accept the charge from the FA.

“In the same time I need to apologise to Mike Dean. It is not the way to behave and I am going to accept the charge.

“Now in public it is important, as my behaviour was in public and now I want to apologise in a public way too.

The fallout from the clash saw Dean removed from duty for Tottenham's recent Premier League encounter with Chelsea.

The experienced referee was scheduled to serve as the fourth official for the match in question and Pochettino admits he feels guilty that Dean lost out:

“I feel sorry for that because I wanted to see him and apologise in person. In my mind I still believe I’m right but in the way that I behaved, it’s not right.

“That is the point. Of course I wanted to apologise because I think you can wait half an hour and then talk with him, and for sure both should behave differently.”
