Bruno Fernandes has solved many of Manchester United’s major problems, according to Shane Keegan.
The former Galway United manager was speaking on Off The Ball and praised the Portuguese midfielder for the impact he has had at Old Trafford.
“He makes a massive difference to them in two ways. They’ve been missing goals from midfield and he seems to be able to make a difference with that.
“And the forwards have been starved of proper chances and proper assists and he’s able to solve that problem for him too.
“There’s probably three solutions actually, to be honest with you, his set-pieces probably stand out as a third brilliant acquisition for them,” Keegan said.
“He’s been excellent. I don’t think you can underestimate just how much of an impact he’s had for them.
“I hate to say it but I kind of do half fancy their chances of squeezing in there now at this stage. I think they’ve got a bit of momentum,” Keegan said.
Man United haven’t lost since going down 2-0 to Burnley on the 22nd of January, climbing to fifth in the Premier League table and qualifying for the Europa League last 16.
Fernandes isn’t the only player behind the team’s upsurge in fortunes however, with Eric Bailly and Fred also putting in impressive performances recently.
“They do look to be getting into a groove. Bailly looks very good lately as well. Fred - who possibly would have predicted Fred would go on the kind of run they’ve gone on.
“I think he’s started 20 consecutive league games for them. They’re mad kind of numbers. So they do look an awful lot better but I wouldn’t go quite as far as to call them consistent yet,” Keegan said.
Manchester United will look to continue their fine run as they face Everton at Goodison Park at 2pm on Sunday.
