Due to the uncertainties around COVID 19, Marseille will not host the 2020 Heineken Champions Cup and Challenge Cup Finals, with new venues to be confirmed.

The board of the EPCR and the local organising committee have agreed that insufficient safeguards are in place during the public health crisis to hold the matches at the 67,000 seater Stade Velodrome in France.

The EPCR are to work with shareholder leagues and unions to secure a suitable venue or venues to host the finals, which will be held on the weekend of 16/17/18 October.

Marseille will instead stage the 2021 Champions Cup and Challenge Cup deciders on the weekend of the 21/22 May, with the showpiece games at Tottenham Hotspur's stadium pushed back a year until 2022.

Tickets for this season's finals will be valid for the 2021 weekend with no change to category or seating, and all ticket holders will be contacted within the next 48 hours with details of how to avail of a full refund if required.

The quarter-finals of both tournaments this year will be played on the weekend of 18/19/20 September, with the semi-finals scheduled for the weekend of 25/26/27 September.

Dates, venues and kick-off times will be announced as soon as possible.

Tournament favourites Leinster were originally scheduled to play Saracens in the quarter-finals at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, with Ulster away to Toulouse in France for their last-eight encounter.

Next season's competition is pencilled in to start on the weekend of December 11/12/13.
