'We got away with one' | Solskjaer admits United were lucky to beat Brighton

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted his side were lucky to come away from the Amex with three points in the Premier League's lunchtime game on Saturday.

Bruno Fernandes scored a penalty for the visitors in the 100th minute to beat Brighton 3-2.

It may have even been a push to say a draw would have been a fair result in this game with United outplayed by the Seagulls for long periods.

Speaking to BT Sports at full-time Solskjaer was honest in his assessment of the afternoon's events,

"We got away with one.

"When they equalised I thought that's two points lost.

"Maybe one point was what we deserved - I don't think we deserved more."

Solskjaer was eager to praise his side's character as well, particularly in how they reacted to conceding but also pointed out they have a lot of work to do.

"The character we showed deserved more."

"They created too much for my liking but they're a difficult side to play against, with really good ball players at the back.

"There is plenty of work but sometimes you've just got to take the points.

"We know we need to improve a lot.

"Last week {following an opening loss to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford] we were very disappointed not to get anything from the game but we showed the response today.

"We had too many draws last season, so that's a big plus for us."
