Manchester United schedule medicals for Cavani and Alex Telles as moves draw closer

After weeks of inactivity in the transfer market, it appears that Manchester United are about to welcome two new arrivals to Old Trafford with the signings of Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani.

While Manchester United's immediate attention is on the task of beating Spurs at Old Trafford, it appears that they're about to sign a new striker and left-back as Alex Telles and Edinson Cavani join the club.

So far, Donny Van De Beek has been the only major new arrival at the club but Samuel Luckhurst, chief Manchester United writer for the Manchester Evening News, has confirmed that the club have scheduled medicals for Edinson Cavani and Alex Telles on Sunday evening.

Cavani, 33, and Telles, 27, are both due at United's Carrington training complex before they put pen to paper.

It is reported that the medicals are expected to take place at 5pm and 9pm respectively.

Since being released by PSG, Cavani is a free agent and is expected to sign a two-year deal worth a reported £174,000-a-week.

As for Porto left-back Telles, the Brazilian international was entering the final year of his deal and the Portuguese club are expected to earn around €20m for the defender.

Cavani has not played a competitive match since PSG's Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund on March 11 but having scored 197 goals during his seven years with PSG, he's the French club's all-time leading scorer and will bring a proven pedigree to Manchester United.

The Uruguayan is expected to challenge Anthony Martial for the position as United's main striker.

The move is bound to end Odion Ighalo's time at the club, despite the fact that his loan deal was extended until January in May.
