Manchester United trigger clause to keep Nemanja Matic at club

Manchester United have today triggered a clause to extend midfielder Nemanja Matic's contract by one year.

The 31-year-old's three-year contract was due to expire this summer.

It's believed he's in talks with the club over lengthening the deal even further.

Matic has been with the club since 2017 and his impressive recent form has encouraged Ole Gunnar Solskjær to extend his stay to 2021 and the Serb could remain beyond that.

Matic has made 109 appearances since joining from Chelsea in a £40m deal just under three years ago.

In the last 10 games Nemanja Matic has started, Man Utd have scored 17 goals and only conceded 6.
That includes impressive wins over Man City, Chelsea & Wolves.
Manchester United are currently unbeaten in 11 games in all competitions.
