Manchester City to learn of CAS fate next week

Manchester City will learn of their European fate on Monday.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will deliver its verdict on City's appeal against a two-year ban at 9.30am on Monday morning.

City took their case to CAS having been banned from UEFA competitions for two seasons and fined €30million for “serious breaches” of financial and club-licensing rules.

The outgoing Premier League champions took issue with what it saw as the "flawed and consistently leaked UEFA process."

Should the ban be upheld, City would miss out on a place in next season's Champions League despite occupying 2nd place in the Premier League table.

Any upheld ban would not impact on this season's Champions League campaign, with City still to face Real Madrid in their last-16 second leg next month.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's Premier League trip to Brighton, Pep Guardiola was not phased by the looming judgement from Lausanne.

"The intention every season is to play in the Champions League and do the best possible," Guardiola said.

"It is not about what will happen on Monday.

"I’m so confident because I saw the arguments of the club that next season we will be there but we have to wait and after I give my opinion or the club will give their statement."
