Lowry And Power In Top Ten As CT Pan Wins RBC Heritage

CT Pan has won his first PGA Tour title with a one-shot victory at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina. The Taiwanese golfer shot a four-under-par final round 67 to finish at 12-under, just ahead of Matt Kuchar.

World number one Dustin Johnson led into the final round but his challenge was halted by going seven over through five holes on the back nine. Johnson eventually signed for a disappointing 77 and

Shane Lowry's up to 43rd in the world after his third place finish at the event. He had one-under 70 final to take that share of third with Patrick Cantlay and Scott Piercy on 10-under par.

Lowry began the day one stroke behind Johnson and hit the front thanks to gains at the second, fifth and sixth.

However, a bogey at the ninth and double bogey at the 12th derailed his bid and, although he picked up a shot at the 14th, he could not eagle the last to force Pan into an extra hole.

The Offaly man has endured some indifferent form since winning in Abu Dhabi earlier this year but feels heartened by his showing at the Heritage.

“I personally feel like it almost got away, I'm a little bit disappointed right now but this was my best week in quite a while, so there are many positives to take from this week. After coming so close, it's hard to describe what it's like, but I'm sure I'll get over it and move on to next week.

“It’s the best I've hit the ball in a while. I've already won this year, so this is my ninth tournament and I’ve had another great chance to win, so I suppose I'm doing things right. Like I said, I'm looking forward to next week and the rest of the season."

Waterford's Seamus Power shot a final round 67 to secure a season best sixth-place finish. It moves Power from 189th to 141st in the FedExCup standings.
