Liverpool coach blocked en route to Old Trafford, tyres let down

A coach belonging to Liverpool Football Club has been barricaded on its way to Old Trafford.

Liverpool are due to play Manchester United in a Premier League game that was originally postponed 11-days prior due to fan protests outside Old Trafford.

The Athletic's Daniel Taylor reports that the tyres on the coach have been let down, but the Liverpool players are not believed to be on board.

A sizeable security operation is underway around the United ground to prevent the scenes which saw the original fixture called off.

Police cordons surround Old Trafford, with officers lining the bus routes to the stadium.

Police eventually dispersed the blockade of the bus, allowing it to progress towards the ground where fan numbers were beginning to swell as kick-off approached.

United players were seen evading any potential protests by arriving to the ground by car some six hours earlier than required.

The Manchester Evening News pictured the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood driving to the stadium instead of taking the usual short hop from the Lowry Hotel by bus closer to kick-off.
