Global sports update provider Live Score has won the rights to stream all 137 UEFA Champions League games free to air in Ireland via its App.
The deal, which will run for the next three years, will commence at the start of next season and 104 matches will be exclusive to Live Score. The other 33 games, including the final, will be non-exclusive.
Irish consumers will be able to watch games via the LiveScore app for iOS and Android.
Users will be able to access the matches on their mobile or tablet devices, with the further option to 'cast' the action to their TV screens.
RTE recently won the rights to show 16 Champions League games, including the final, on terrestrial television. RTE will continue to show a match on Tuesday nights. Virgin Media lost the rights they had to showcase European football's premier competition.
Ric Leask, Marketing Director at LiveScore, said:
“We are extremely excited to announce this significant new rights deal, which will provide fully free-to-air live coverage of every single UEFA Champions League match to football fans in Ireland. We look forward to being there for every step of the season, as we bring our users closer to the action with our full offering of live-streamed matches and supporting content.”
Guy-Laurent Epstein, Marketing Director at UEFA, said:
“UEFA is delighted to welcome LiveScore as the new broadcaster of UEFA Champions League rights in the Republic of Ireland. We are excited to see the innovative coverage it will deliver and to bring comprehensive coverage of the best of European club football to Irish fans for free.”
