Arsenal legend Liam Brady plants himself firmly in the Wenger camp

Arsenal legend Liam Brady has underlined his support for current Gunners boss Arsene Wenger whose future remains uncertain.

Speaking at the launch of the International Club Game between Manchester United and his former Serie A side Sampdoria which will take place at Aviva Stadium on August 2nd, Brady backed the long time Arsenal boss despite the club missing out on the Premier League Top Four for the first time in 21 years.

"I've gone on record. I'd be well and truly in the Wenger camp. I think Alex Ferguson came out yesterday and said exactly what I feel," said Brady, who was director of the Arsenal youth academy until 2014.

"Twenty years of how he's managed the club shouldn't be discarded by the fact that they haven't qualified for the Champions League.

"I know managers defend themselves by using certain things. We actually have a better total of points this season than we did last season and we finished second last year. It's football and fans have got to understand that.

"We don't know if Arsene is going to stay. It's still I think up in the air. A lot of newspapers are saying he will [stay] and if he does, I'm happy."

Arsenal, Juventus and Ireland legend Brady also feels the increased competition among the Top 6-7 sides makes it difficult for all the clubs involved.

"That's the competition that exists now in England and I think Everton will be on the scene. They've got money coming in which will enable them to be up there," he said.

Manchester United will return to the Aviva Stadium for the first time in seven years as they prepare to take part in a unique international club game against Sampdoria on Wednesday, August 2nd.
