Lewis Hamilton was named the BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2020 on Sunday night.
It's the second time that the Formula One driver has won the award, which is decided by popular vote, after also claiming it back in 2014.
35-year-old Hamilton equaled Michael Schumacher's record of seven world titles this year with his fourth consecutive championship.
He also surpassed Schumacher's total of 91 grand prix wins.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson finished second with jockey Hollie Doyle third.
The Premier League title-winners were presented with team of the year, with boss Jürgen Klopp picking up the coach's award.
In a virtual message after winning the award, Hamilton paid special tribute to the others who had been nominated.
"I want to say congratulations to all the incredible nominees.
"I'm so proud of what they have achieved and I want to say thank you to everyone that has voted for me.
"I wasn't expecting this knowing there's so many great contenders.
"I want to say Merry Christmas to everyone - it's been such an unusual year and I want to mention all the front line workers and all the children round the world, I want you to try and stay positive through this difficult time, I'm sending you all positivity.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Elsewhere, Manchester United footballer Marcus Rashford received a Panel Special Award.
The recognition follows the 23-year-old leading a successful campaign to provide free school meals for vulnerable children during the spring lockdown,
His work is continuing with projects aimed at tackling child hunger.
