'Did I quit or was I sacked?' | Klopp rumours addressed by Liverpool boss

Jurgen Klopp has moved to calm rumours that he was set to leave Liverpool over the weekend, following yet another loss for the Reds in the Premier League.

After Leicester City beat Klopp's side 3-1 at the King Power, a flurry of messages went around social media alleging a 'bust-up' in the dressing room and rumours that Klopp had left the club.

The German manager, who recently lost his mother to COVID-19, responded to the rumours ahead of Liverpool's match against RB Leipzig in Budapest.

Klopp rumours

"Did I get the sack or did I leave by myself?" Klopp said with tongue in cheek.

"I don't need a break. Privately, we had a tough time, that was a much longer time already and we always deal with it as a family 100%."

Liverpool supporters started a #YNWAJurgen hashtag after the rumours circulated, and raised a banner in support of Klopp outside of Anfield.

"I heard about both [the banner and the rumours]," he said to assembled media.

"The banner was nice, I don't feel that I need special support in this moment but it's nice. I don't need a break."

Leicester fallout

Klopp spoke after the Leicester game for the team to stick tother.

“We conceded a goal that was a tough one to take. It was a turning point," he said of James Maddison's free-kick.

"I saw it now, a couple of times. The moment when VAR stopped the situation, he didn’t even touch the ball. So that’s really hard.

"For me it looks a clear offside, and that’s the moment it should be yes or no."

It was another game Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson will want to forget after he gifted Jamie Vardy their second goal.

The Brazilian came and missed Youri Tielemans’ long pass before Vardy ran the ball in, in what will be one of this season's easiest goals.

Klopp, similar to last weekend after their defeat to Manchester City, refused to blame his number one and throw him under the bus.

Positioning

He seemed more concerned about Liverpool's positioning for the final goal they conceded.

"The second goal is a misunderstanding. I said before we need to get used to each other, and we were used to each other until when the goal happened, it was a really good football game.

"They were one position ahead of us, maybe more now, but on the pitch that was not obvious, we were the clear dominant side.

"We played football, we did pretty much everything, scored a really nice goal.

"The game was really good, but then you concede these two goals.

"The third goal was something I don’t like, because we were too open and I told the boys that is not OK. But it is the situation we are in."
