Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that N'Golo Kanté has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss their Champions League game against Juventus on Wednesday night.
Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, and Reece James are all injured and will also miss the Group H match in Turin.
Kanté will be a huge loss to the Londoners as they continue the defence of their title.
The French midfielder's class was highlighted via the massive impact he when brought on at half-time for Mason Mount in Chelsea's recent Premier League win over Tottenham.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference before traveling to Italy, Tuchel confirmed the four players would miss the game.
"Christian, Reece and Mason are out.
"N’Golo unfortunately tested positive and he needs to quarantine and follow the government protocols. He was not in training today."
Tuchel went into further detail in relation to the injury that James sustained during their weekend defeat to Manchester City.
"It’s still very painful. It will come down to pain management in the end and how much he can accept.
"Right now we are looking at a minimum of one more week."
Looking ahead to the game, Tuchel, who is enjoying his first full season with the club, said it will be a major challenge but they need to remain focused upon themselves.
‘They are so experienced and such a big club with so much Champions League experience.
‘They will enjoy the different competition. They have had a bit of a rough start according to their results in Serie A, but they were convincing in the Champions League.
‘You never know with players that are missing. The guys who come in want to show they are reliable.
‘We play Juventus at Juventus. It’s a no-brainer that demands respect to the quality and tradition of the club.
"We need to refocus and regroup and face a tough challenge with positive energy and determination to bounce back from our defeat."
