Anthony Joshua to defend World Heavyweight Titles in Summer

Anthony Joshua will defend his World Heavyweight titles on the 20th June in London.

The 30-year-old world IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion will face Bulgaria Kubrat Pulev and the new 62,000 seater Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is expected to be the venue.

Pulev confirmed the news on social media on Monday saying “The contract is already officially signed.”

The 38-year-old former European amateur super-heavyweight champion went on to say on his Facebook page that he's "happy to be able to show the world how strong I am.”

Joshua beat Andy Ruiz Jr on points in a December rematch in Saudi Arabia to win back the world titles that Ruiz had taken from him at Madison Square Gardens last summer.

Pulev, who's known as “The Cobra”, challenged for the IBF world heavyweight title in 2014 but lost to Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg on a fifth-round knockout.

Joshua's last fought in London was in September 2018 when he beat Alexander Povetkin at Wembley Stadium.

If the Watford native were to beat Pulev he could be in line for an all-British title unification fight against Tyson Fury.

Fury is set to face American Deontay Wilder for a third time in the United States in the summer, promoter Frank Warren has said.

Warren has expressed his interest in Furey fighting Anthony Joshua next but Wilder has a rematch clause.
