'That isn't coachable' | Keith Wood outlines what sets Josh Adams apart after Lions performance

Former British and Irish Lions hooker Keith Wood has said he likes one particular aspect of Josh Adams' game, after the winger put in a four-try performance on Saturday.

Adams was a standout performer for the side, having started the past two matches.

"Every opportunity you get to play is a chance to make a statement," said Adams after the match.

"There were a few walk-ins so I can't take too much credit but I am happy to score four.

"I was happy to because it is a shorter tour with fewer warm-up games; you've got to take a chance when you get it," he added.

"There's a few more games to come. There's other boys with plenty of other opportunities but you can only do what you can when you get the chance."

Keith Wood on Josh Adams

Wood, however, is not wholly convinced of Adams' position in a Test side.

"I don't know what I make of Josh Adams. He scored four tries, so he's good at something. He's bloody quick and he knows where the line is. He seems totally psyched up, over-psyched half of the time.

"For one of those tries, he was at the bottom of a ruck. I think it was at 60-65 minutes, he sprinted back to get into the line.  He was still sprinting back when the first receiver got the ball, he turned and scored the try.

"That was the work ethic. You know that when they do the review, they'll be saying 'Yeah, he scored four tries, but this is why he scored the tries. Look at him getting off his ass off the bottom of a ruck having taken the ball in. He's still there to score again.' That is the attitude they're looking for.

"I know that is what's going to be said because it's a simple thing, it's not a coachable thing. That is a desire thing. You want to see that in the jersey whenever you can."

Springboks isolation

Meanwhile, the Lions' Test opponents South Africa have confirmed a positive test in their camp, and
A South African Rugby statement said: "Lood de Jager retuned a positive outcome in scheduled testing and, because of his close contact with a number of squad members, the entire group has gone into isolation."
“The players have been placed in preventative isolation prior to further PCR testing and a review of the testing data by the Medical Advisory Group.”
