Jordan Henderson speaks to Off The Ball: "The next game is always the biggest"

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson spoke to Off The Ball following the Reds' 2-1 victory over Tottenham, saying that 'the next game is always the biggest'.

Henderson scored this afternoon, Mo Salah grabbing the other, after Harry Kane put Spurs ahead after 47 seconds.

"It is always nice to get on the scoresheet. It's been a while - I think my last one was at Southampton away last season, so I'm delighted to get the goal and win - that's the most important thing.

"Overall, we are delighted with the performance and the result."

A goal at Anfield is a relative rarity for Henderson, but it is his - and the team's - performance towards collective goals that remain the priority for the Wearside native.

"It is always nice to chip in with goals, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter who scores. If the forward players score the goals and we win the games, that is the most important thing.

"It is nice for other players to contribute, of course. But the most important thing is performance, making sure that I am performing for the team, that everybody else is performing and winning games."

Jordan Henderson on adversity

Henderson believes that reacting to adversity is becoming one of Liverpool's strengths.

"I think we reacted in the right way - it is not easy going behind early on, but we knew that we still had a lot of time left.

"We reacted so well and that is down to mentality. We keep going and keep fighting until the very end.

"That's something that we have done for a while now, and something that we need to keep doing until the end of the season."

The Liverpool captain believes that the Reds' eyes are not on the title as much as they are their immediate opponents, in their quest for glory this Henderson season. They face Manchester City on November 10th, in a match that could help decide the Premier League's residence come May.

"I'm not even thinking about [the Manchester City] game yet," said Henderson.

"We have still got games before that, so that isn't a thought in our mind, really.

"The next game is Arsenal in midweek - that is the biggest game for us.

"That has been our mentality for a long period of time now and that's the way that it needs to be - the next game is the biggest game.

"We'll think about City when that time comes."
