Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been named the English Football Writers' Association Player of the Year for the 2019-2020 season.
It's the first time the England midfielder has won the award and it caps a brilliant season for Henderson, after Liverpool won their first league title in 30 years.
He is also in contention for the PFA Players' Player of the Year award, which is set to be announced today.
Henderson has seen off competition from team-mates Virgil Van Dijk, Sadio Mane and Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne to win.
He lifted the Premier League trophy at Anfield on Wednesday, having made 30 appearances for the Reds this season.
The Football Writers Association first awarded a player of the year gong in 1948, when Stanley Matthews took the honours.
Two players from the Republic of Ireland, Johnny Carey in 1949, and Roy Keane in 2000, have won the award.
Northern Ireland trio George Best, Danny Blanchflower and Pat Jennings have also been lauded by the FWA.
Over 500 journalists vote on the winner, and with all awards, sometimes the final decision can cause controversy.
In 1999, Tottenham's David Ginola won the award, despite Manchester United achieving a historic treble.
Manchester City's Raheem Sterling took the prize in 2019.
