Chelsea captain John Terry says he is not bothered by critics of his stage managed Stamford Bridge goodbye at the weekend.
He was substituted after 26 minutes, which corresponds to his squad number, in his final home game before leaving the club.
It was a 5-1 win for the Premier League champions over Sunderland, with the away side agreeing to kick the ball out on 26 minutes to allow for the Terry send off according to now former Black Cats boss David Moyes.
The idea to be substituted off in the 26th minute was Terry's.
Thousands of pounds have been won in bets about the specific time of the long time club captain coming off.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Terry's unapologetic.
"I don't really care what other people think," he said.
"Twenty two years I've been at the football club so honestly I couldn't care less what other people say. There's a special relationship between me and the Chelsea fans. They know what it means to me and they have given me an unbelievable send off and one I'll never forget."
While emphasising their recognition and respect for Terry's achievements at Chelsea over a long period of time, many pundits have been critical of the way the send off occurred on Sunday, with some arguing that it was a bit over the top and could have been done differently.
