Jack O'Connor set to be handed three-year term as Kildare manager

Jack O'Connor has been put forward as the next Kildare senior football manager.

A three-year term for the Kerry U20 manager has been proposed by the Management Committee.

O'Connor will be ratified at next month's meeting of the Kildare County Board.

The 58-year old will replace Cian O'Neill, who stepped down earlier in the summer after four-years in charge of the Lilywhites.

O'Connor led the Kerry senior football side to three All Ireland titles during two spells in charge, and he's overseen the Kingdom's Under-20s for the past three years.

He'll be familiar with the lay of the land in Kildare, having helped coach with Moorefield where his sons Éanna and Cian both play.

A statement from the Kildare County Board reads:

The Management Committee of Kildare GAA are pleased to nominate Jack O’Connor for the position of Kildare Senior Football Manager for a three year term. The proposal will go before the September County Board meeting for ratification.

Jack has a wealth of management experience at all levels having won three All-Ireland Senior titles, two All-Ireland U21 title, two All-Ireland Minor titles, three All-Ireland Vocational Schools & one All-Ireland Colleges Hogan Cup.

He has also won three National Football League titles as well as numerous Munster titles at all age grades.

Jack’s proposed backroom team will be announced over the coming weeks.

A press briefing will organised following the September County Board meeting.
